Augmented and Virtual Reality – Transforming Retail Experiences
Conceptually, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) will help solve some major issues with fashion retail, including the problem of how the clothes actually fit. Even though the metaverse is yet to be adopted as the current industry standard, it is expected that AR and VR will provide a number of useful tools such as virtual fit options to decrease the friction in buying things over the internet.
Though some users still gravitate towards physical stores, the gap is redeemable with digital applications. For example, virtual try-ons for items like sunglasses are commonplace, particularly with expensive items that have limited utility. This technology does not only improve the purchasing process; it makes possible more engaging interactions between brands and consumers and expands the horizon of digital fashion and retail further.
IMM Embraces the Future of Fashion Technology
At Istituto Marangoni Miami, we strive to be at the forefront of incorporating new technologies within the fashion and beauty industries by preparing our students for when AI, AR, and VR will be part of everyday life. Just as the fashion world adapts to such changes, so do the horizons for brands that are willing to create products and services that intimately speak to consumers. AI and technology are not only regarded as something from a distant time, they are also changing the landscape of what is feasible in today’s fashion.
