Level 4: Communicating luxury

Program Description

In this unit students learn about image management of the brand including brand communications strategies and luxury business models. Students in this level will cover: Luxury Business Models, Visual Merchandising, Value Marketing Planning and Green Marketing, Fashion Communication: PR and Events and the completion of their final project. 

SUBJECTS 

Each level consists of 6 courses for the entire 11-week level. This will total in 18 hours a week of class, each course is 3 hour blocks; the professors grant a break between classes. There will be weekly assignments, midterms and final projects for each class. 

LUXURY BUSINESS MODEL

The class delves into various luxury business models, such as direct-to-consumer, vertical integration, licensing, and collaborations. Students also explore topics such as luxury brand management, pricing strategies, distribution channels, and sustainability in the luxury sector.

INDUSTRY BASED LEARNING

Designed to provide students with practical, hands-on experience and insights into the real-world operations of the fashion industry. Students will go over case studies about fashion brands to analyze the contest in depth. Moreover, the students will create solutions and innovations for the study presented. 

FINAL PROJECT

Students can utilize their acquired knowledge to develop an original business project within the industry. Students demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving skills by tackling real-world challenges or opportunities, showcasing their readiness for entrepreneurial ventures or impactful contributions in the fashion business.

DESIGN AND PRESENTATION LAB 

Explore the role of public relations and events in the fashion industry. Students learn about the strategies and techniques involved in effectively communicating brand messages, managing media relations, and creating impactful events within the fashion context.

VALUE MARKETING PLANNING AND GREEN MARKETING 

Students will focus on developing marketing strategies that align with value-driven principles and sustainable practices within the fashion industry. The course covers topics such as media planning and budgeting, metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), data analysis techniques, and green marketing techniques and greenwashing. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the luxury codes in the contemporary industry, its practice and its context.
  • Develop a competence in marketing research and green marketing.
  • Examine the role of public relations and events within the fashion industry.
  • Generate an original business project, based on the acquired knowledge.
  • Recognize the importance of the Point-of-Sales (POS) as a communication medium and evaluate the suitability and effectiveness of different visual merchandising strategies.

These learning outcomes interplay perfectly with the previous levels of the One Year Vocational Program for the students to progressively grow as a fashion business professional through a personalized class curriculum and hands-on experience. 

HOW TO APPLY 

The Vocational Programs provide flexibility to the student that does not want to commit for a full year program but wants to start a section of the program to see if it is the right fit. As to this, you are able to apply to the individual levels of the Vocational Programs and then see if you want to continue. To apply to a stand-alone level, students are able to select the ‘11-week level courses’ in the application form.  Students will then be able to apply to their corresponding level and program.
