The fashion styling one-year program is offered in four different levels ranging from introductory themes to more advanced topics of the industry. The courses are designed in a set of four levels that each extend over 12 weeks to allow for a flexible learning experience for the students based on their progress, achievement, and knowledge. For a more intimate and personalized classroom setting, class sizes are limited to a maximum of 15 students.

Structure of the Fashion Styling One-Year Program

The fashion styling program consists of learning the techniques to present ideas and trends for effective visual communication proposals for different platforms and effectively apply communication skills to transmit the right messages for brand identity. To prepare students for potential professional settings, our fashion styling classes encompass a range of ideas from a foundational level to specialized approaches.

Level 1: Introduction to Fashion Styling

Start with an overview of the ‘Fashion System’ and an introduction to visual communication, presentation skills, plus basic techniques in creative writing for print and online media proposals. This 12-week course allows students to understand style through historic periods, plus the basic history of iconographic research and fashion photography.

Level 2: Image Development

Take a look at the communication of fashion and image through digital and social media as well as the influence and impact it has on typical communication methods. Students in this 12-week course will be introduced to photoshoots, skills in graphic design to develop a research-based personal blog, and how style is used to transmit a message or story.

Level 3: Fashion Branding

Provides an introduction to marketing and its theoretical studies for brands to create identity awareness for the contemporary fashion markets as well as how brands operate and react to demands and changes within the market. In this 12-week course, students will have the opportunity to research in order to propose new visual fashion brand identities.

Level 4: Fashion Editorial

Learn analytical and interpretation techniques to interpret concepts in contemporary methods, the history of beauty, hair, and makeup to enhance skills vital for considering the models’ appearance. Students in this 12-week course will have the chance to plan, organize, and execute model photo shoots with the support of props and a fashion team.

How Can I Apply for the One-Year Fashion Styling Program?

To enroll as a student in the fashion styling one-year program at Istituto Marangoni Miami, complete and submit your application by the deadline of the course start date you’d prefer – January, April, July, or October.

Registration

When filling out the application, select “Progressive Level Courses” from the program drop-down list if interested in completing each level individually. From the progressive course list, choose the desired level from the fashion styling course options ranging from introductory level 1 increasing to level 4. Lastly, select the course start date ideal for your education plan. If you wish to complete all four levels, select “One-Year Accelerated Courses” on the drop-down menu when filling out your application. In the following step, choose your desired subject of study as well as your intended program start date.

Price

The Fashion Styling Courses are $9,500 USD per level, which includes a non-refundable registration fee. All four levels together, total $38,000 USD. By completing your application by the deadline date, $1,000 USD will be reduced from the total price. If necessary, a payment plan can be arranged, but the amount remaining should be paid in full 60 days prior to the course start date.

Documents

To complete your registration the following documents are needed:

  • Copy of your ID (Driver’s License or Passport)
  • Resume (CV)

Visa

If you require a student visa, the following documents are needed to issue your M1 student visa:

  • Copy of Passport
  • International address
  • Bank extract with at least double the amount of the program cost

If the bank extract belongs to a family member, a sponsor letter from the bank is needed stating they will be financially responsible for the student during their time at Marangoni. Once the visa documents are submitted and you receive your M1 student visa form, complete the following steps to issue the student visa:

  • Make an appointment with the embassy
  • Pay the I-901 fee and take the receipt to the embassy
  • Go to your appointment - your M1 Visa will either be accepted or denied

Note: If you are enrolling as an international student, an English test is required. You have a maximum of two attempts for a passing score with no charge, after the second attempt the program requires a payment option. Your English test results should be emailed to the representative who has been or will be in contact with you.

INTRODUCTION TO FASHION STYLING  – 12 weekss

This course starts with an introduction to styling for the fashion industry, together with an overview of the ‘Fashion System’. Visual communication and presentation skills are introduced, alongside basic techniques in creative writing for print and online media proposals. The History of Art and Dress further supports participants understanding of style through key historic periods, as well as a basic history of fashion photography and iconographic research.

FASHION BRANDING

LEVEL 3


The Fashion Branding Unit provides students with an introduction to marketing. Theoretical studies of marketing and brands create an awareness of the meaning of identity for contemporary fashion markets and contextualize how brands operate and respond to innovation, demands and change within these markets. Students will research and propose a new fashion visual brand identity for a clearly identified market segment in realising a advertorial supported by a written rationale which evidences the application of information, validity of ideas and relevance of work.

LEVEL 2


This course takes a look at fashion communication and image through digital media and social networks, including the influence and impact of social media on traditional communication processes. Participants are introduced to photo shoots, and to how style can be used to communicate a message or story. Skills in graphic design are further developed to create a personal blog supported by individual research.

FASHION EDITORIAL
– 12 weeks

 

LEVEL 4


In this Fashion Editorial Unit, the students plan, organise and realise their first model photo shootings using props. After learning analytical and interpretation techniques, the students interpret a concept in a contemporary manner, work on the set and direct the photographer and their team (hair stylist, makeup artist, model, and assistant(s)). Students also discover beauty, hair and makeup from the history to the upcoming trends. This area enhances the students’ skills in being able to consider the models’ appearance and select the most appropriate makeup and hairstyle.
