Level 3: Fashion branding

Program Description

The Fashion Branding Level provides students with the practice on marketing strategies and brand identity with existing brands. This study helps create awareness of the meaning of identity for contemporary fashion markets and contextualize how brands operate and respond to innovation and change within the fashion industry. Theoretical studies of marketing and brands create an awareness of the meaning of identity for contemporary fashion markets and contextualize how brands operate and respond to innovation, demands and change within these markets. Students will research and propose a new fashion visual brand identity for a clearly identified market segment in realizing an advertorial supported by a written rationale which evidences the application of information, validity of ideas and relevance of work. Students will also create and professionally present an editorial. For the advertorial and the editorial, the students will be therefore involved in the organizational and production process of their photo shoots, finding and using props, styling fashion and accessories and directing the photographer in choosing the lighting, the backdrop and the photographic style and composition. This process encourages and practices skills development in problem solving and communication, preparing students for real life industry scenarios. In addition, students are required to build research books which will support both final outcomes and will help them to communicate their ideas and concepts. 

SUBJECTS

Each level consists of 6 courses for the entire 11-week level. This will total in 18 hours a week of class, each course is 3 hour blocks; the professors grant a break between classes. THere will be weekly assignments, midterms and final projects for each class. 

FASHION STYLING

Students will analyze creative identity of brands in fashion, deep understanding of seasonal trends, self identity and aesthetic development, and participate in their shooting project relating editorial and advertorial campaigns. Students will go over an analysis of editorial and advertorial campaigns, menswear and womenswear, aesthetic development and style identity, to then end the course with their shooting project. 

GRAPHIC DESIGN 

Through Case Study analysis, students will refer to top fashion luxury brands to dive into their editorial practices like visual storytelling, creating a magazine identity, use of color, and more editorial guidelines.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Students learn advanced fashion photography techniques while adopting guidelines of the great fashion photography professionals. Students gain hands-on experience and create content in-house and outside photoshoots. Students will go over the marvels of monochrome, intellectual and creative process behind fashion images, controversy within the fashion photography realm, the moral importance of photo editing, and then finishing with a shooting project. 

ADVERTISING

Students learn to develop and execute effective advertising campaigns within the fashion industry, mastering the art of crafting compelling visuals and persuasive messaging to strategically promote fashion brands and products. The students will go over advertising, branding, client management, communication tools in advertising, to then create their brief project. 

BRAND IDENTITY

Students explore the process of developing a strong and cohesive brand identity within the fashion industry, learning to define brand values, create distinctive brand elements, and craft brand messaging that resonates with target audiences. Students in class will go over brand identity, visual communication and branding, digital branding, rebranding and repositioning, visual identity and globalization of brands. 

MARKET INSIGHT

Students gain valuable knowledge and skills to analyze and interpret market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor analysis within the fashion industry. Students will go over the market’s key language and definitions, the marketing process and research including macro, meso and micro marketing environments, segmenting, targeting and positioning the fashion market, allowing them to end the course creating their own business plan. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

  • Evidence of the research which underpins the proposal for a new fashion visual brand identity.  
  • Write a rationale that evidences the application of information, validity of ideas, and relevance of work.
  • Evidence of a diverse range of research from multiple sources, to inspire ideas for shoots.
  • Apply a variety of CAD techniques to present well-executed final outcomes.
  • Plan, organize, and realize professional photo shootings.

These learning outcomes interplay perfectly with the next level of the program for the students to progressively grow as a fashion stylist through a personalized class curriculum and hands-on experience. 

HOW TO APPLY 

The Vocational Programs provide flexibility to the student that does not want to commit for a full year program but wants to start a section of the program to see if it is the right fit. As to this, you are able to apply to the individual levels of the Vocational Programs and then see if you want to continue. To apply to a stand-alone level, students are able to select the ‘11-week level courses’ in the application form.  Students will then be able to apply to their corresponding level and program.
